Basement Players Inc. began 23 years ago to raise money for some local churches. It was co-founded by Glendon Kerr and Joyce Griffith. While it's membership was originally United Church based, it's now a community based group. The theatre group evolved from variety shows the church put on more than two decades ago after which Glendon Kerr said he'd like to do a three act play. Their first play "Too Many Andersons" was so much fun they decided to keep doing plays. Now 23 years later, they do 12 to 14 shows a season. This years production includes 13 actors, the director, and two prompters. Members which include, retirees, a mechanic, hospital staff, real estate agent, school teacher, teller, and publishing rep come from a variety of Kings County Communities, including, Norton, Sussex Corner, Belleisle, Springfield, Hampton and Sussex.
